Why I Am Longing for that Beautiful City

Visit at Children’s Discovery Museum

A few weeks ago, my wife requested me to drive her to Children’s Discovery Museum in Bangkok.

She’s a Grade 1 homeroom teacher and was assigned to coordinate a field trip activity for students. Meaning, she has to do an ocular inspection of the site.

When we arrived at the prospect venue, my wife and her colleague had talked with staff of the museum. Meanwhile, we let our kids, Justin and Gayle, to walk around and play.

They went inside the library, visited the gallery about dinosaurs, and even created a giant bubbles in Science section–while enjoying their cotton candies. I must say its a perfect place for inquisitive young minds to develop creativity!

Build Our City

20160911_131440What they enjoyed most is the activity called Build Our City  located at the third floor building of the museum.

The objective was to assemble the ready-made blocks in an empty table.

At first, the staff instructed them how to build a city using wooden blocks such as schools, buildings, trees, lakes, houses, churches, road, factory, police  and fire station, and many more.

This interactive activity gave opportunity for children to learn about construction, urban planning, and make a cool multistory building from the blocks before knocking it all down.

I must say they had so much fun as they built the city.

A Great City in Heaven

But there’s another city  that I would like to emphasize. When Jesus was on Earth, he was telling his disciples not to worry because He’s building a great place for them.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:1-3)

The great city of New Jerusalem is made up of highest quality of gold and the streets are safe.

No diseases. No crimes. No drugs.  No killings. No sorrows. For you and I are safe in the arms of God.

In a world of busy life and difficulties, children of God should have longing for that city not made by human hands. In that city, God will wipe every tear from our eyes and there will be no more death or pain, for the old order of things has passed away (Revelation 21:4).

Are you excited to walk in that beautiful city?

Richly blessed,

Jun
